How to Use the Lorem Ipsum Generator

1. Select the type of content you want to generate: paragraphs, sentences, or individual words.

Lorem Ipsum History

The origins of Lorem Ipsum trace back to 45 BC, when Roman philosopher and statesman Cicero wrote “De Finibus Bonorum et Malorum.” The text explores ethical theories of pleasure and the highest good. The Lorem Ipsum passage we know today is a scrambled fragment of section 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of that work. The word lorem itself is a corruption of dolorem (Latin for sorrow or pain), and ipsummeans “itself” — so the opening phrase roughly translates to “pain itself, sitting there, a beloved adversary.”

The modern use of Lorem Ipsum as placeholder text is credited to a printer in the 1500s who needed filler text for a type specimen book. The practice continued for centuries in the printing industry.
